Winnipeg Blue Bombers unveil 2019 Grey Cup championship rings

The reigning Grey Cup champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers unveiled their championship rings on Thursday, reminding fans and players of a simpler, more joyous time.

Production of the rings was halted due to the pandemic, but the pieces prepared by Canadian jeweler Baron Championship Rings were more than worth the extra wait.

According to the website unveiling “the diamond-studded two-toned ring is a stunning story-driven piece highlighting important aspects of the organization’s journey to the 107th Grey Cup.”

“On the top of this statement piece is the iconic ‘W’ in diamonds and custom Bombers blue enamel. The outer edge of the face is lined with 11 sapphire stones representing the organization’s total championship wins and is complemented by the title of Grey Cup Champions.

Both shoulders of the ring feature intricate details, with one shoulder displaying the player name and number in diamonds over the IG Field background, while the opposite side features the Winnipeg skyline behind the Grey Cup and the Golden Boy, framed by the team name and year.

Finally, the ring is finished with an engraved personalized message unique to each player and with the final score of the 107th Grey Cup etched above “For The W”.”

Winnipeg native Andrew Harris put the entire city of Winnipeg and the whole Bombers team on his back in order to win the 107th Grey Cup. The hometown hero was named the Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Canadian — the first time in Grey Cup history the same player won both awards — leading the Bombers to their first Grey Cup in 29 years beating Hamilton 33-12.

Fans have the opportunity to share in the accomplishment with an extensive line of ring-inspired merchandise, including full-sized replicas, being released for sale  bluebombersring.com.
