Redonkulous Duron Carter grab wins CFL's Catch Madness bracket
Duron Carter has left his mark on the CFL in many ways, most impressively on the field was his redonkulous touchdown on that memorable summer night in July 2017.
The league’s Catch Madness bracket had fans vote on the best 32 plays over the last five years down to one — Carter’s unbelievable one-handed, backhand grab took top spot.
Carter was locked in one-on-one coverage with Toronto Argos defensive back Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, Saskatchewan Roughriders Kevin Glenn lofted the ball into the end zone and Carter stabbed it for an 18-yard touchdown.
“I just knew I needed to make a play,” Carter said after his nine-reception, 131-yard, two-touchdown effort in a Riders victory.
“We were down going into halftime and I was already a little bit frustrated with how the game was going and I just told Kevin to throw it up to me and I knew I needed to catch it.”
What Carter did with the football afterward was heartwarming, he gave the ball to 12-year-old cancer survivor Paige Hansen.
Over the course of his CFL career, Carter has made a ton of highlight worthy receptions, but none were as spectacular as that miraculous touchdown at Mosaic Stadium.
After finding out about his new accomplishment, Carter tweeted: y’all salty I won! I thank everybody that voted! Hopefully more to come!
Just Duron being Duron.
