Randy's Road Trip hits ditch in Edmonton on NHL trade deadline
As has been the case with the rollout out CFL 2.0, there’s the idea phase, and then there’s the execution of the idea.
And along the way, even the best-laid plans can land off the mark.
Exhibit A is CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie’s tour stop Monday in an Edmonton market that is all consumed when it comes to hockey, which happened to be held on the same day as the NHL trade deadline.
It goes without saying not a lot of ink was spent on any CFL headlines the following day.
“Look, I hate to steal the thunder away from the hockey world,” Ambrosie joked with the trio of media outlets in attendance at the Midway arcade bar, before he spoke further with Eskimos season-seat holders invited to the event. “No, this was just a date on the calendar, I’m trying to get the entire road show done and trying to be in all nine cities – I say 10 now because I’m going to be in Halifax, as well.
“I think any day is a good day when you get to be talking about football in the middle of February and I’m happy to be in Edmonton with a chance to meet the fans.”
