Edmonton Eskimos at Hamilton Tiger-Cats 11/17/19
On Sunday, the Edmonton Eskimos visit Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario to play the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in an CFL Eastern Final showdown with the winner moving on to play in the Grey Cup. The Eskimos defeated the Montreal Alouettes 37-29 in a semifinal matchup in the East. Trevor Harris came up big for the Eskimos with 421 yards passing and one touchdown. The game was just Harris’ second since September 7.
In just the first half, Harris had 257 yards passing and one touchdown and Edmonton ended the half with 306 yards of total offense. The Eskimos held the ball for over 21 minutes in the first half with touchdown drives of 80-83 and 88 yards. If Edmonton were to go on to win the Grey Cup, the Eskimos would be the first to do so as a crossover team.
The Hamilton Tigers-Cats won the East division regular season finishing at 15-3 overall and 9-0 at home at Tim Hortons Field. The Tiger-Cats enjoyed a bye in the first round of the postseason. Hamilton ended its regular season on November 2 with a 21-18 victory over the Toronto Argonauts.
During the regular season, Dane Evans threw for 3,754 yards, 21 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, while Cameron Marshall led the rushing attack with 307 yards and Brandon Evans led all receivers with 1,550 yards. On the defense, Simoni Lawrence led Hamilton in tackles with 98, while Ja’Gared Davis was the sacks leader with 13 and Jumal Rolle the leader in interceptions with five.
