EVANS AND SUTTON NAMED CFL TOP PERFORMERS FOR WEEK 19

The Canadian Football League announced Tuesday that Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Dane Evans and running back Tyrell Sutton have been named CFL Top Performers for Week 19.

Evans, 25, completed 32-of-41 passing attempts (78.0%) for a career-high 452 yards and a touchdown in Hamilton’s 33-12 home win Saturday versus Ottawa. The 6-1, 218-pound native of Sanger, Texas is currently fourth in the CFL in passing touchdowns (17) and sixth in passing yards (3,375) despite starting just 10 games this season. Evans has now led Hamilton to four consecutive wins and is 8-2 as a starter in 2019.

Sutton, 32, posted 149 yards from scrimmage on 13 carries for 85 yards (6.5 yards per carry) and four receptions for 64 receiving yards Saturday against the Redblacks. Sutton, who has played in three games for the Ticats after signing as a free agent on September 9, has totaled 32 carries for 198 yards (6.2 yards per carry) and 10 receptions for 119 yards and a receiving touchdown this season.

Calgary’s Reggie Begelton, second in voting, joins Evans (1st) and Sutton (3rd) as this week’s CFL Top Performers. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
