The Red and White face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in an afternoon affair on Saturday as they host their final East Division opponent in 2019. The action gets going at McMahon Stadium at 2 p.m.
Calgary is coming off a 33-17 win in Edmonton to sweep their three-game season series with the Eskimos. DaShaun Amos returned an interception for a 79-yard touchdown to seal the Stamps’ second victory in a five-day span. The Stampeders now sport a 7-4 record and are tied with Saskatchewan for second place in the West.
Hamilton – 9-2 and six points up on Montreal to lead the East – had a bye in Week 13 after winning their previous four outings.
These two teams met in mid-July with the hometown Ticats scoring the game’s winning touchdown with just over three minutes remaining. Stamps signal-caller Nick Arbuckle threw for 368 yards, 119 of which went to Reggie Begelton. A special-teams touchdown was registered by Ka’Deem Carey after blocking a Tiger-Cats punt.
Two different starting quarterbacks are set to start compared to the previous encounter at Tim Hortons Field. A healthy Bo Levi Mitchell has since returned to Calgary’s lineup and Dane Evans assumed the lead role for Hamilton due to a season-ending injury to Jeremiah Masoli.
Saturday’s matinee will also feature four of the league’s top five touchdown targets. Begelton and Eric Rogers sit tied for first in the CFL with seven TDs, while Brandon Banks and the Ticats’ Bralon Addison are part of a three-way tie for third with five majors each.
The Stamps have won their 14 most recent home games against the Tiger-Cats dating back to July 4, 2004. That day, Calgary’s Marcus Crandell and Hamilton’s Danny McManus combined to throw for 783 yards in a 41-34 Ticats triumph.
The final Gridiron Gardens event of the year will feature player autographs, face painters, a Stamps BBQ tent, a DJ and partner activations beginning at noon. Family Day festivities at the Gridiron Gardens will include various inflatables including an American Ninja Warrior Jr. obstacle course and the chance to meet Family Channel stars Josh Bogert and Alexandra Beaton.
Also, the first 2,000 fans to the Gridiron Gardens with a game ticket will receive a Stamps Jersey Lunch Bag.
Family Day at McMahon Stadium will feature special appearances from Marvel’s Spider-Man and Iron Man as well as Chase and Skye from PAW Patrol. Also on hand will be mini Quick Six horses and a junior PA announcer in addition to other Family Day surprises.
Red City Drum Line
The team’s drum line will be performing both before and during the game.
This year’s Little Miss Outrider participants will take to the field for a halftime performance alongside the Calgary Stampeders Outriders.
