B.C. Lions CFL Prediction: 2019 Season Preview and Odds

He’s back! The Lions made the biggest off season splash into the free-agent pool inking Quarterback Mike Reilly to an incredible four-year deal worth a reported 2.9 million dollars. Reilly is heading into his 10th CFL season, is a Grey Cup champion, league most outstanding player, and now finds himself back where it all started, in BC.

Last season

Last season was all about Wally Buono’s final CFL season on the sideline. Unfortunately their 9-9 regular season did not end well. The Lions found their way into the playoff picture, but were crushed in the cross-over game by the Tiger-Cats 48-8.

B.C. Lions Acquisitions and Moves

All-Star pivot Mike Reilly will be wearing the orange and black once again this season, and there could be some exciting times ahead for the 34 year-old.

The team bolstered their offensive line by signing Sukh Chungh from the Blue Bombers to protect him. Reilly will also have Lemar Durant as a capable receiver and it will be interesting to see if outspoken receiver Duron Carter can re-establish himself with his new team

The Lions did take some significant hits on defence. Nine-year veteran Solomon Elimimian was released, while Shawn Lemon and Micah Awe will be playing in other CFL markets.

2019 B.C. Lions CFL Schedule

New Head Coach Devone Claybrooks will quickly have to acclimatize himself to the Leos sidelines as the team opens up the season at home to Winnipeg, before three straight games on the road. Week two, no doubt has already been circled on the calendar as Reilly makes his way back to Edmonton to face the Eskimos on June 21. The schedule lightens up for the team between weeks 13 – 17 when they face the Alouettes, Redblacks twice, and Argos, all three opponents not expecting big things in 2019.

B.C. Lions CFL Prediction and Odds

General Manager Ed Hervey addressed the team’s number one need this off-season, and it should pay immediate dividends. Look for the Lions to compete for first place in the West Division with the Blue Bombers and Stampeders.
