Stampeders lose Juwan Simpson for four to six weeks
The criminally underrated Calgary Stampeders defense has taken a blow with the announcement of 8-year veteran Juwan Simpson poised to miss four to six weeks with a broken collarbone.
Simpson has been Calgary’s iron man coming into the season having played every single game at middle linebacker in 2012, 2013 and 2014 – a very impressive streak. The two-time Grey Cup Champion and three-time West Division All-Star has 395 career tackles (his 82 in 2012 led the Stamps in 2012), 24 sacks and three interceptions. As much of a void Simpson leaves with his stellar play, his veteran leadership may prove to be the bigger loss for the defending champs.
Is Jasper Simmons available to step in? Wait…
