Roll up for the Henoc Muamba CFL reunion tour!
Of all the NFL free agents, currently getting the most hype is linebacker Henoc Muamba, formerly of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Now we can add Montreal to the list!
Attention CFL teams: I'm a 27-year-old free agent. I'm available!
Muamba is getting the “wine and dine” treatment by teams around the Canadian Football League and for good reason. While he was born in Congo, he grew up in Mississauga and owns a Canadian passport. Muamba is returning to Canada after being released by the Indianapolis Colts earlier this month where he recorded six tackles as a reserve linebacker last season.
The St. Francis Xavier graduate was dominant during his CIS days where he actually won Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 and his dominance continued into the CFL. As a rookie in 2011, he recorded 15 special teams tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown; his progress continued over the next two seasons where Muamba recorded a combined 171 tackles, four sacks, one interception and was unanimously voted as the Blue Bombers' most outstanding player, defensive player *and* Canadian.
Yes, he's that good.
It's tough to say which team has the edge at this point, but Henoc’s brother Cauchy is an Edmonton Eskimo. The thought of Henoc Muamba joining an already fierce Eskimo defense is nothing short of terrifying…
