Cut by San Francisco 49ers, Shawn Lemon returns to the CFL
It was only a matter of time before Shawn Lemon was back in the Canadian Football League after being cut by the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, but no one was sure where.
It was a three-horse race between the BC Lions, Ottawa RedBlacks and Grey Cup-hosting Winnipeg Blue Bombers, with BC the first team to drop out of the Lemon sweepstakes.
Per #CFL sources: The BC Lions are out of the Shawn Lemon sweepstakes. Down to Winnipeg and Ottawa.

It’s not quite *official* yet though…
Right now, the #RedBlacks deal with Shawn Lemon is just verbal. Need it on paper and signed, plus star DE will need to pass physical. #CFL

The agreement has Lemon in Ottawa through 2016 and is huge for RNation since Aston Whiteside is now out for the season.
Lemon was a beast last year with the Grey Cup champion Calgary Stampeders, nabbing 31 tackles, 13 sacks and an interception.
