With little fanfare, Michael Sam retires from pro football
After suiting up for just one game with the Montreal Alouettes, Michael Sam has retired from football.
Michael Sam had an unbelievable college career with Missouri but just couldn’t adapt to the pro game, be it American or Canadian football.
After his NFL preseason performance with the St. Louis Rams last year, I thought that Sam should get a legitimate shot. In fact, 90% of players with the same or similar stats he racked up during the preseason made it onto NFL rosters. As for the CFL, it’s simple – he just wasn’t fast enough.
Michael Sam is a brave, young man that made history as he started his career, but it’s just too bad that his skillset couldn’t translate to professional football.
