CFL’s reigning MOP Solomon Elimimian suffers torn Achilles
The BC Lions suffered a blow on the scoreboard (a 52-22 loss to the juggernaut Hamilton Tiger-Cats) *and* one half – or, more accurately, 56% – of “Team 100” will be off the field for at least six games.
You could argue that Travis Lulay has been the face of the BC Lions franchise since 2011 but you could make a strong case for Solomon Elimimian, something almost unheard of in today’s Canadian Football League. Since debuting in 2010, Elimimian has amassed 447 tackles, including a record-smashing 143 just last year. His 44 tackles this season is good enough for second in the CFL, ranking behind only his “Team 100” partner in crime Adam Bighill.
While a fierce competitor on the field, Solomon Elimimian is a kind and humble man off the field. I had the pleasure of meeting 2014’s Most Outstanding Player at the Grey Cup in Vancouver last November.
I thought for sure the nasty linebacker would tackle this goofy Roughriders fan through a table, but he was great!
The 28-year-old will undergo surgery to repair the torn Achilles tendon later in the week. Speedy recovery, Sol!
