Rakeem Cato: Representing a New Era in Montreal?
Ever since Anthony Calvillo hung up the cleats after the 2013 season, it’s been a revolving door at quarterback for the Montreal Alouettes.
Have they finally found their guy?
Rakeem Cato had a *very* impressive CFL debut against the powerful Calgary Stampeders. He was *perfect* on his very first drive going 5 for 5 as he lead Montreal into pay dirt and finished the game completing 20 of 25 passes and throwing for 241 yards to go along with 3 touchdowns.
It’s only one start for Cato but this is a guy who everyone expected would be sitting on the practice roster all season long after signing with the Als only a month ago. Plus, everyone has to start somewhere, right?
The Blue Bombers will have a little bit more to work with next week as the Alouettes roll into Winnipeg but with a wounded Drew Willy under centre – and suddenly Montreal looks really dangerous.
A dynamite defense, legitimate rushing attack, and veteran presence in the receving core could be the recipe for success for Rakeem Cato and the Montreal Alouettes.
Oh, and it looks like Cato’s performance made a lot of noise South of the border. (ESPN 2 carried the game)
I want Brandon Bridge to succeed, but I can get behind the Rakeem Cato story, too…
