Brandon Bridge: The Last Canadian Standing
After the first round of cuts last week, three Canadian quarterbacks remained on rosters.
Now there is only one.
Calgary Stampeders prospect Andrew Buckley is heading back to the CIS-level to play with the University of Calgary Dinos, as expected.
From the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, former University of Manitoba star QB Jordan Yantz has been released as well. Despite marks of 2,474 yards, 25 touchdowns against just six interceptions in eight games with the Bisons in 2014, Yantz wasn’t able to get any preseason action with the Blue Bombers.
Jordan Yantz is the best CIS quarterback I've seen since Chris Flynn. Was released from his fourth #CFL camp today. Shame that's how it ends— Arash Madani (@ArashMadani) June 21, 2015
That leaves Brandon Bridge.
Congrats to Canadian QB @Air_Canada_7 Brandon Bridge for earning a place on the roster of the Montreal Alouettes.— steve simmons (@simmonssteve) June 21, 2015
Bridge is seeking to become the first Canadian quarterback to start a regular season game since Giulio Caravatta with BC in 1996.
The CFLpass Official Fearless Prediction™: With Jonathan Crompton and Dan LeFevour in front of Mr. Air Canada on the depth chart, we will see Brandon Bridge make history this season with the Alouettes.
