Travon Van now the man for Ottawa RedblacksJust two weeks ago, I featured five players that I thought would be valuable players in Fantaseh for the upcoming season, and it turns out I may just be the source of some sort of curse.

Lavelle Hawkins decided to retire, Kenny Stafford is a bit banged up and William Powell’s season may be in jeopardy.

The Ottawa RedBlacks put Winnipeg in their place with a modest 18-14 victory, but the story of the game had to be the loss of projected starting running back William Powell.

Powell was helped off the field in the first half after two rushes for 18 yards and many are wondering if it’s one of those dreaded achilles injuries. Details are still sketchy but everyone’s hoping that this isn’t another Darian Durant or John White situation after Powell was spotted on crutches during the second half.

But one man’s loss is another man’s gain: In comes Travon Van.

The University of Montana product spent four seasons with the Grizzlies and rushed for 1,645 yards while gaining 1,149 yards through the air during his college career before joining the RedBlacks last season. All of a sudden, Van is the guy you want to grab in your Fantaseh drafts.

Ottawa will wrap up their pre-season this Friday in Hamilton; the Tiger-Cats will be offering a live stream of the game on their website.
